IWC Launched New Eco-Friendly Watch Straps

We have good news for watch enthusiasts. IWC has launched new watch straps made from a paper-based material.

IWC has released a new watch strap of the Schaffhausen model, which has been featured in the Watches & Wonders Geneva 2021 edition, made from natural resources, largely responsibly towards nature.

IWC has launched a new line of straps made of steel, textile, or rubber materials that it has used in the manufacture of watch straps for the past few years and made from a paper- sourced material that is much more environmentally friendly than its highly acclaimed watch straps.

According to the press release, watch straps called TimberTex have a soft and flexible texture and seem to be highly appreciated.

TimberTex watch bands, which are made of 80% natural plant fibers and produced in Italy, stand in a different place with these features from other watch bands, which are usually made of plastic or petroleum-based synthetic leathers.

Manufactured using traditional papermaking techniques, the material from which these unique watch straps are made is colored with natural dyes.

It also has an irregular texture that makes each watch strap unique. I guess we don’t have to say that this is a huge plus for people who want to feel different. Just think, no one else will ever have a watch strap like the one on your wrist. It’s a great feeling!

IWC TimberTex watch straps made of recycled microfibers are also characterized by their coating made with recycled yarn.

Finally, it should be noted that these watch straps meet all the quality criteria defined by IWC and are hydrophobic, showing no signs of wear after diving in IWC’s swimming pool.

Schaffhausen production currently three colors (blue, brown, or black) as is offered to users and catalogs in four models TimberTex watch straps aims: IWC Portugieser Chronograph, Portugieser Automatic 40, Portofino Automatic and the Portofino Chronograph.

We will probably wait for a while to see these eco-friendly watch straps used in other models as well. However, we are certain that this innovative approach will be used in all other watch models as well.
