IWC’s tidal formation

Since its introduction in 2010, the Portugieser Yacht Club has always been a model with marine references with its design approach and functions. The most outstanding example of this approach, the new Moon & Tide model, is a part of the reform adopted by the manufacture for the Portugieser collection for Watches & Wonders. The model demonstrates all the renewed design notions of the Yacht Club family, and it has a tidal indicator, developed recently by the manufacture, and positioned at 6 o’clock. This scale that helps to calculate the high tides that occur twice a day with an interval of 12 hours and 24 minutes sets an example in terms of accuracy with a deviation of only 10 minutes in 100 years.

On the other hand, the ‘moon’ expression in the name of the Portugieser Moon & Tide model symbolizes the double moon indication at 12 o’clock. This subdial facilitates to make sense of the tidal movements which differ based on the phases of the moon. The model has a 18 ct. 5N gold case, and a dial diameter of 44 mm. IWC’s manufacture automatic 82835 caliber that powers the model provides a power reserve of 60 hours. The model’s navy blue dial and rubber strap with fabric lining are the naval references of the design approach. It should also be underlined that the Portugieser Moon & Tide is also water resistant up to approximately 30 meters.
